Ceramic Coating Maintenance
Ceramic coating aftercare
A ceramic coating isn't a magical shield that will stop all damage to your vehicle. It will however reduce dirt etc adhering to the paint, make it easier to maintain , reducing the likelyhood of wash induced swirl marks and help maintain the gloss for many years.
There are many coatings on the market with durability ranging from 1-9yrs. The key to achieving the lifespan of any of these coatings is regular maintenance.
Wash the vehicle on a regular basis ( ideally at least once a fortnight or monthly)
Pre wash routine using snowfoam or citrus pre wash to remove heavy soiling before contact wash.
Two bucket wash routine, grit guards , good quality microfibre or lambswool wash mitt.
Use only ph neutral shampoo products that contain no added wax etc.
Coatings can become clogged over time which will be apparent by reduced water beading .
To de-clog coatings there are shampoos specifically designed or use fall out remover mixed in with shampoo.
Deep clean maintenance is recommended every 6 months ( on a vehicle used daily). Use fallout remover and tar remover to remove any embedded contaminants.
Do not clay bar any ceramic coated vehicle - it will ruin the coating!
Dry the vehicle with a microfibre drying towel.
Use of a quick detailer is beneficial to enhance the hyrophobic properties but ensure they are designed for ceramic coatings or else they will not bond correctly.
